New Traffic Rules : The mistakes which deprive you from insurance benefits

With the rise in the number of vehicles riding on the roads, there is also a rise in number of accidents and fatalities. To reduce the accidents which occur due to traffic violations, many stringent steps have been taken.

Along with imposing heavy fines on violations of traffic rules, by the direction of court, the rules for insurance coverage have been changed and the new guidelines will be carried out by the insurance companies and the transport departments from April 1, 2022.

As per the new guidelines, the below mistakes will you ineligible for insurance claims or from getting insurance benefits:

  1. Overloading
    No insurance will be covered if the number of passengers travelling by auto or two-wheelers exceeds the permitted numbers.
  2. Riding without helmet
    No insurance will be covered if the persons riding on two wheelers without wearing a helmet.
  3. Driving on wrong side
    The persons driving in wrong side not only will get any compensation and also no case will be filed after an accident against the persons driving their vehicle on the correct side of the road. Moreover, to compensate the loss to the ones who are driving on the correct side of the road, if an accident occurs because of using on the incorrect facet through others, a sum of rupees upto Rs 20 lakh will be recovered from the people violating the traffic rules. And the traffic rules violators might face up to 14 years of imprisonment, in case the cash couldn`t be recovered even through promoting the belongings of the violator.
New Traffic Rules
  1. Drunken driving
    There will be no insurance coverage for the drunken drivers and in case if any accident occurs, no compensation for any loss will be paid.
  2. Talking on mobile
    The above violation guidelines will be applicable to a person found speaking on mobile and the same punishment will be applicable even after he/she is wearing a helmet, driving on the correct side and/or driving without consuming alcohol.
  3. Over speed
    Similar to talking on mobile, all the punishments will be applicable for the vehicles with over speed, which are exceeding the speed limits.
  4. Trying to influence
    If the person tries to influence to avoid or escape from punishment in the above cases, the driving license of the person will be cancelled.
  5. Punishment for inaction
    If a concerned officer, liable for taking action within the above violations, doesn’t initiate any action, the officer will be suspended from his/her service for 3 years without any service benefits.
  6. Not wearing seat belt
    No compensation will be payable to the person who is driving with out wearing a seat belt.
