Insurance claims crosses Rs 2,000 Crores due to the effect of Cyclone Fani.

After the cyclone Fani effect, Insurers are sending their surveyors to the affected regions in odisha and some regions of West Bengal.

Cyclone Fani had made a huge damage in several areas of odisha reporting severe damage to land and property.Insurers said that losses have touched Rs 2,000 crore and the majority of the claims are coming in from crop insurance and property insurance.

A single -point helpline is coming soon that is being set up by the insurace companies to make the claims are filed to be on one single platform.

More than 300 factories and 500 building structures and major manufacturing companies are destroyed by the impact of cyclone Fani.The Odisha airport also damaged due to wind speed over 200 km per hour.

The Insurance companies are in the process of sending their surveyors to the effected areas of Odisha to estimate the damage to the properties of insured.And also the damage to the crops will be estimate by using drones and satellites.This will be cross – checked with the information provided by the farmers.

Last year, insurance companies had recieved the claims about Rs 3,200 Crore from kerala floods.Majority of claims are from motor insurance. since several cars and bikes were submerged in water for many days.Continous rains in kerala had lashed the state in july and August 2018.

In the past five years, insurance claims have led to RS 17,000 crore by the effect of cyclones Hudhud and phailin as well as floods in uttarakhad.
